How Long Does It Take?

When should you renew your passport?

The safest time to renew is before your passport becomes borderline for the trip you are planning. For many people that means checking before booking flights, hotels, visas, ESTA, ETIAS, or package holidays. A passport can still have time left on it but fail a destination rule, especially for Schengen trips where the 10-year issue-date rule also matters.

Before you apply

Gather the details you need before starting the renewal. This reduces delays and avoids rejected photos or missing information.
