How Long Does It Take?
- Standard renewal: usually up to 3 weeks (but allow longer during busy periods).
- Fast Track: 1 week — book an appointment in advance.
- Online Premium: same-day service, with an in-person appointment.
Top Tips
- Apply online where possible — it’s cheaper and usually faster.
- Make sure your photo meets the HM Passport Office rules (background, lighting, no smiling, etc.).
- Check your passport’s expiry and the “10-year rule” before booking travel.
- If your passport is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately and apply for a replacement.
- For children, all renewals must be countersigned if the child is under 12.
