Passport validity for Uganda

GOV.UK says your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date you arrive in Uganda.

Count from the day you arrive, not the day you leave. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before you book.

Visas

You must have a visa to enter Uganda. Apply online and attach the required documents. You will be emailed a letter of authorisation with a barcode. Print it to show on arrival, where border officials will issue your visa.

You can also apply online for an East African tourist visa, which GOV.UK says costs 100 US dollars and allows multiple entries into Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda over 90 days.

Arriving and health

At Entebbe International Airport only passengers with tickets can enter the terminal, so anyone meeting you must wait outside.

Because of Ebola, Uganda has closed its border with the Democratic Republic of Congo, with limited exceptions. Some countries have extra health screening for travellers from Uganda.
